Rogers (Canada) increased mobile high-speed service to Rural Canada (Northern Ontario)

Rogers Communications Inc. is improving the wireless mobile coverage in northern Ontario by partnering with a regional provider, TBayTel, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Rogers and TBayTel are working together to maintain an HSPA network that provides a wider variety of services to an under-serviced region of the province that stretches from the Manitoba border to just west of Sault Ste. Marie.

Rogers is being strategic and is making efforts to pull ahead of a widening field of competitors, which now includes small startup companies along with longtime rivals Bell and Telus.

The new network provides third-generation download speeds in the area. This shows Canada's ongoing commitment for wireless services that are on par with Cities in rural regions. This is exciting news for the mobile services industry because these innovations ensure that users in rural regions can surf, email, download, and play video with the latest smartphone devices at high speed.
